Dine for Ukraine With Chef Igor

Castro Valley Chef, Igor Breyman, is a culinary professional with extensive experience as an instructor, private chef, and caterer.He was also born in Odessa, Ukraine. He and his family emigrated to the US, but retain deep ties to family and friends in their homeland. They are organizing grassroots efforts to help citizens who are struggling to get access to food, goods, and services they desperately need. He is grateful to be able to put his talents and community together to help Ukrainians back home.
Igor is known by many who attended Castro Valley schools alongside him, from his background as a culinary teacher to students, caterer, or through the Castro Valley News’s Facebook page as their Food Editor and Restaurant Review Host. He currently works for bon appetit at the flagship teaching kitchen at Google.
To help raise funds, Igor, and the Castro Valley Marketplace vendor community, are hosting an amazing Ukrainian meal to support those affected by the devastating Russian invasion. The fantastic evening will feature dishes from his homeland, with the space, service ware, and all the ingredients generously donated from vendors in the Marketplace. The menu features authentic Ukrainian dishes which will allow diners to connect to people and places that are suffering so badly now.
As Igor describes his passion, “the powerful media of food is a media of Memory. One smell, one taste; carrying you back to your life experiences to where you began.” By preparing this meal, Igor can share his food experiences passed down from his Ukrainian father and family who encouraged his career.
The funds raised by this dinner will provide a direct line of financial resources to help those on the ground in the city and support the grassroots efforts his mother and sister are providing.
There will also be a Silent Auction with gifts from every Marketplace vendor with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the people of Ukraine.
